Ukrainian folk music ensemble 'Bogovytsia' (Kyiv) is greeting you!

Bogovytsia is a ritual round loaf of bread that was being baked by ancient Ukrainians for the great harvest festival named "Ovsenia". The bogovytsia that was decorated with all the gifts of autumn was being served up to all family gathered around a table. It is a symbol of unity and wealth. Maybe, it is the very reason the lineup of our collective is unchangable during many years.

The 'Bogovytsia' group was founded in 1994 for popularization of Ukrainian folk music and songs. It consists of six musicians infatuated with folk art. The ensemble uses various folk instruments - cymbalo, pan-pipe and dvodentsivka, ocarina, tilinka, clarinet, fiddle and bayan. The duet of feminine voices, after the fashion of racy folk singing, return audience back to a feeling of genuine Ukrainian song. Our collective participated in many folk festivals and took part in charity events arranged by French association 'The Hope' with the purpose of whip-rounding for needy orphanages in Zhitomir, Kyiv and Chernigiv regions of Ukraine.

The 'Bogovytsia' is nearly acquainted with Ukrainian folk ceremonies and traditions. It renders with much success Ukrainian weddings, christening parties and birthday parties. Also, it produces background music for parties styled after Ukrainian folk art. The vast repertoire of the ensemble includes Ukrainian triple-musics, folk and art songs, world music and block of jazz standards rendered using folk instruments.

Tha artistic director is Antonina Petrivna Kolomiyets.
